Google Adwords vs Yellow Pages

Market research shows that people searching for a specific business online tend to use search engines as their first option (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc). If they cannot locate the business they are looking for with a standard search engine, then they may possibly turn to the Internet Yellow Pages or other business directories.

Over 80% of people use the internet to research a purchasing decision and over 80% of these people use Google to do the searching. Google logs 2 billion searches a day, meaning that up to 300 million people use Google Search a day.

Yes, the Internet Yellow Pages may offer you a placement within their directory, but if your website doesn't show up on the first two to three pages of the major search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo, your website is virtually nonexistent! The risk you take of not being found among the top search engines allows for your competitor to be found instead. Can you afford to make the assumption that your prospective clients are going to search for you at Yellow Pages Online in order to find you? Probably not.
